One of my best and most memorable teachers. I have many good memories of the many class hours I spent with Ms Shewmake and Ms Smith through high school. I am sorry for your loss, Kenneth and family, but take comfort from the fact that lessons from your mother still stay with me and that many sarcastic comments remind me of her.

Mrs. Shewmake was absolutely the best. She taught me World History and Native American Studies. She taught with such passion and cared genuinely for her students. It saddens me that I never made it back to see her after I began my own career in education. Her methods and style set a high standard of practice for me, and the lessons in history have lasted me a lifetime. In fact, I referred many times to them throughout my career. Mrs. Shewmake was one of a kind! No doubt she rests in peace. My deepest condolences to Charles and the rest of the family.

Mrs. Shewmake was a brilliant, entertaining and humorous educator. She was always available to mentor all who had the sincere privilege to be in her classroom. I spent four years under her direction in UIL Mock Trial and other competitions during my time at WHS. Her passion for education always shined brightly. She was one of the best. God bless Mrs. Shewmake and her family.
