Chief Master Sgt. Donald E. "Sam" Hodshire (Ret. USAF), 81, of Venus, passed away August 24, 2011 while surrounded by his loving family at his Venus home.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 7:00pm the family home, 332 English Trail; Venus, TX 76084

Sam was born November 24, 1929 in Granite City, IL to Jackson and Alma Grace Hodshire. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and retired in 1969 having achieved the highest rank of the enlisted, Chief Master Sergeant. On December 5, 1953 Sam married Etta Watson in Dundee, Scotland. He had a unique sense of humor and easily made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening. Sam will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Sam was preceded in death by his brother, John Hodshire of Benton, Arkansas.
Survivors: loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Etta "Pat" Hodshire and son, Alan Hodshire formerly of Cleburne; daughters, Dawn Martinez and her husband Alfred of Venus, and Lyn Stinson and her husband Mike of Cripple Creek, CO; brothers, Jack Hodshire of Benton, Arkansas, and Robert Hodshire of Pangburn, Arkansas; sister, Judith Chase of Benton, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
