Dewey Melear's Obituary
Dewey Melear, 90, passed away on March 29, 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Interment: 11:30am Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Dewey was born on September 15, 1923 to his father William and his mother Minnie in Haslet, Texas. Dewey grew up in Davilla, Texas before he moved to Haslet. He worked at the City of Fort Worth Water Department as a Maintenance Foreman for 33 years before retiring from that job. Dewey was a veteran of the US Navy and his service is very much appreciated. He liked all sorts of things including playing dominos, or playing cards, and listening to music. He enjoyed watching sports like boxing, professional wrestling, and football, specifically the Dallas Cowboys. He loved fishing and would visit all the local lakes, go to the gulf to fish and fish for salmon all while traveling in his car. He was a gentle and loving father, husband, and grandfather and will be missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Robbie Lois Melear.
He is survived by his son Donald Ray Melear of Longview, Washington, his two daughters Sherry Brown of Fort Worth, Texas, and Robin Bascom of Phoenix, Arizona, his sister Ruth Seaberry of Decatur, Texas, his three grandsons Andrew Brown of Arlington, Texas, Phillip Brown of Arlington, Texas, and Alexander Bascom of Tucson, Arizona, and his granddaughter Leslie Bascom Fleming of Fairbanks, Alaska.
