Wilson, OK
— Jan (Mae Janeice) Thompson Kirk, a lifelong resident of Wilson and Ardmore, died peacefully July 27, 2010. Born to Philip Thompson and Vivian Bilderback Thompson on May 4, 1937, she was the fourth child and second daughter.
Her ashes will be interred between her parents in the Family Plot in Hewett Cemetery.
The family will be having a private memorial service with Rev. Leonard Ezell officiating.
An honor graduate of Wilson High School in 1955, she was awarded the National Betty Crocker award that included an all-expense trip to Miami, Florida, to model the all-white organdy formal which she designed and made.
She sold real estate for four years, then worked as a medical transcriptionist for the Medical Arts Clinic for 32 years, and after her retirement, she taught the medical transcriptionist course at Southern Oklahoma’s Vo-Tech for three years.
She is survived by her daughter, Vivian Dale DeBrady and husband, Davis DeBrady of Grand Prairie, Texas; and two grandsons, Brandon Charles Decker of the United State Marines and Jason Kirk Decker of the United States Navy. Her son was tragically killed in a car accident in 2006, leaving his wife, Melissa, two daughters, Meagan and Laura Le, and a son Jarrod. He was also survived by his grandchildren, Hayden, Bailey, and Lily Ann. She is also survived by her sister, Claudia Thompson Bain and husband, C.N. Bain of Granbury, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Thompson Wood, Ardmore, Faye Thompson Beavers, Wilson, and Jill Thompson Stacy, Elmwood, Iowa; two very special cousins, Geraldine Graham, Lone Grove, Oklahoma, and Darlene Thompson Kennedy, Ardmore; and many other dear cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Nursery at Northwest Baptist Church, 1609 Robison St., Ardmore, OK 73401-1546.
