Douglas Courtney's Obituary
Douglas Larry Courtney, 59 passed away Tuesday, March 29th, 2016 in Fort Worth, TX.
Born December 27th, 1956 to C.E. “Tucker” Courtney and Jimmie Nell Holman, Doug spent the majority of his life in North Texas. Growing up in Arlington, Doug attended Arlington High School before getting his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Texas at Arlington. Specializing in commercial mortgage lending, Doug helped form and run the Wyndam Group in the mid-1980s. After parting ways with Wyndam in 2005, Doug went on to work for John Handcock Life Real Estate Division and Extensia Financial, financing commercial real estate deals throughout the Southwestern United States. Doug married Lynn Woodcock in 1982 and adopted her son, Christopher Lee Courtney. They went on to have two more children, Jennifer Lynn Courtney and Andrew James Courtney.
He is survived by all his children and their mother. Doug is also survived by his mother, Jimmie Nell, his brothers, James Courtney of Seattle and Charles Courtney of Austin as well as various nieces and nephews.
An avid fisherman, Doug spent much of his free time outdoors or on the lake. In this sprit, his friends and family will hold a Celebration of Life on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Lake Arlington Activities Room from 6PM to 9PM. Memorial donations can be made to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
