Rives Grogan's Obituary
Mansfield, TX- On July 8, 2014, Rives M. Grogan Sr. quietly and peacefully went to be with our “Lord” Jesus Christ. He was surrounded by his loving family and devoted doctors and nurses at Mansfield Hospital.
Services: Visitation will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Mansfield Funeral Home from 3PM to 5PM. A Rosary will follow on Saturday at St. Josephs Catholic Church at 7PM, and a Mass will be held following the Rosary at 7:30PM. Interment will be Monday, July 14, 2014 at DFW National Cemetery at 11:15AM.
He was born in Vivian LA. on February 17, 1940. Rives grew up in Shreveport LA. and graduated Byrd High in 1958. He served his country in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electronic Technician from 1960-1964. The Navy is where he met his “Queen of the North” Penny; with whom they celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 9, 2014. Rives was a loving husband and father and served the “Lord” faithfully since 1976. He was a Knight of Columbus and a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Arlington TX. Rives greatest joys came with being surrounded by family and teaching the bible.
Rives has been reunited in our Heavenly Kingdom with his mother Edith, Father Dexter Sr., Brothers Dexter Jr., John and grandchild Jonathan.
He is survived by his Loving wife Penny, son Rives Jr. (Rick) and wife Asa, son Scott and wife Faye, daughter Kim and husband Jay Cleaves, grandchildren Tommy, Sean, John, Rives III, Johanna, Maggie and Emily, sister Kate Kennedy, nieces Julie Nicolson, Denise Rives, Kassie Collins and nephews John, Dexter Jr., Jamie, William Kennedy Jr. and many cousins.
Pallbearers are grandsons Tommy, Sean, John, Rives III and nephews John Grogan, Jim Nicolson, Jamie Grogan, Billy Shea and William Kennedy.
