Jarred "Jad" Torrance's Obituary
TORRANCE, Jarred "Jad" Weston Passed away Sunday, August 9th, 2015.
Born in Austin, TX on March 2, 1954, Jarred grew up in Tyler, Texas. Inspired by his father, he was very proud to become an architect, graduating in 1979 with a degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He lived in the DFW area, and interned before working at The Vincent Association, where he spent 16 years. Later, he moved to government work, working for AAFES as a Materials Coordinator and Project Manager/Architect, where he remained until his death.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Kate Newell. He leaves behind many family members, including sister Nancy Torrance Wolfe and husband, Curt, brother Gregory S. Torrance and wife Junella, stepmother Janet Torrance, step-siblings Jim Shaw and wife Tracy Carter, Rick Cape and wife Chris, David Cape and wife Shirley, Michael Cape and wife Shannon, and Catherine Cape, along with Kate's five siblings and other extended family. His parents, Jarred R. Torrance and Mary Lou Torrance, as well as stepmother Martha Shaw, predeceased Jarred.
Jarred had many friends and associates he was a kind man with a warm smile for everyone. Very organized and meticulous, Jarred collected sports memorabilia, architectural pieces and books. Jarred and Kate loved hosting foreign exchange students, and hosted 11 boys over the years. Jarred dearly loved his pets. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the UT Austin Longhorns. He held Cowboy season tickets for 25 years. Jarred loved the holidays, and enjoyed playing host for all of Kate's family. A Memorial Service will be celebrated in Jarred's honor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA.
