Yvette Eloise Nelson's Obituary
Yvette Eloise Nelson, was united with her Heavenly Father, Friday, October 30, 2009 while in a local hospital.
Memorial Service: 11am Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Alternative Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Yvette to The American Cancer Society of Fort Worth, 3301 W Freeway, Fort Worth, TX 76107.
Yvette was born October 29, 1929 in Zachary, Louisiana. She graduated high school at St. Anthony's in Baton Rouge where she excelled on the high school basketball team eventually receiving her B.S. in Physical Education on a basketball scholarship at Le Clerc College. She received her diploma from Physical Therapy School at the Medical College of Virginia during her first of three years in the Airforce. She was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1954 in Wichita Falls.
In 1955 she moved to Fort Worth and worked for an Orthopedic Surgeon before starting her own successful Physical Therapy business in Fort Worth. She retired in 2004 after 52 years of dedicated service.
In her spare time, Yvette loved watching sports having played basketball and softball in her youth. In her later years, she played more golf and spent her time hunting and fishing on her deer lease.
Yvette was a dedicated Philanthropist who loved helping people in need. Her tender heart and loving ways will always be missed by her family and friends. Yvette was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Alvin Nelson, Jr of Lake Charles, LA and sister, Clelie Nelson Crawford of Baton Rouge, LA.
Survivors: Brother, Roy Albert Nelson of Grand Prairie and sister, Elise Nelson Tennison of Silsbee, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
