Joseph Bostick, Jr. was born on May 23, 1927 to his parents, Joseph and Thelma Bostick in Tampa, Florida. He was raised by his grandmother and educated in Florida. Seeking a more adventurous life, at 18 Joe enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. He served from March 15, 1945 until August 5, 1954.
Joe migrated to Chicago in 1965, where he met and pursued the affection of Patricia Stinson Newton. Marrying her on September 22, 1967, Joe also became a loving father to Steven L. Newton. On July 15, 1970, his beloved son Carlton Joseph Bostick was born.
In Chicago, Joe worked many years for Hunt Wesson Oil Company until his retirement in 1983. The family moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 1988. Not willing to sit at home, Joe sought work with the Wal-Mart chain, where he happily worked until his retirement in 2010.
Joe was an avid bowler, golfer, and all-around fun-loving person. Whenever he walked into a room, he made people laugh with his contagious sense of humor. After forty-seven years of marriage, his happy days came to an end on January 19, 2015. Joe leaves to mourn his death and cherish his memory his wife Pat; sons Steven (Robin) of San Antonio and Carlton, sister-in-law Phyllis and her family Nancy (Curtis), Rebecca, Christopher (Christal) of Chicago; and a host of family members and friends.
