Peter John Mcgill's Obituary
Peter John McGill, age 66, of Mansfield, was received into the hands of God Saturday, August 18, 2012, while surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Mansfield Funeral Home.
Procession will depart funeral home at 11:30 for 12:00pm Graveside Service at Emerald Hills Memorial Park, 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, TX.
Pete was born May 5, 1946 in Mont Clair, New Jersey to Henry and Jacqueline McGill. He grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas and graduated from Sunset High School in 1964. Pete and his wife Marla married December 15, 1986 while living in Irving. He was a dedicated employee with Bristol-Myers Squibb over 26 years where he worked as a distribution supervisor. Pete had a passion for all things cars. He loved working on them, restoring them and had opened a pre-owned dealership with his brother-in-law in Oklahoma. He loved Ford cars, pick-ups, Bronco's and Corvettes. He was especially fond of his 1986 Lariat Short Bed truck he was currently restoring. He had many hobbies such as watching and rooting for his favorite NASCAR driver, #88, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., playing Texas Hold'em and fishing. None were more important than the holidays with the family and the special moments with his grandchildren. Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather whose quick witted, loving ways will be deeply missed and always cherished by his family and friends.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Marla McGill of Mansfield; son, Daniel J. McGill and his wife Kathy of Quinlan, TX; daughter, Shelby Lee McGill of Coppell, TX; stepson, Bill McGowen and his wife Jessica of Mansfield; grandsons, Tyler McGowen of Mansfield and Shawn McGill of Quinlen; granddaughters, Deanna McGill of Quinlan, Molly Elyse McGill of Coppell, Monica and Morgan McGowen both of Mansfield; brother, Robert McGill and his wife Sandra of Ovilla, TX; nephew Christopher McGill and niece Kim Livingston.
