AL MYERS, my brother, my friend, my right hand... and one of "Lead Mentor" of our mentoring program, "2nd Wind Mentoring Project" (2W).
I'm Trish Hodge-Washington, the Founder of 2W and OneVoice Community Outreach Choir. I first met Al in August of 2018 through one of my closest sister-friends, Gaye Huff, who is also the wife of Al's best friend, Ed Huff. Al attended one of our shows, then came to our post-show gathering with Gaye. It was that we connected... he requested more information about my ministry and how he might support. As best friend to the husband of one of my closest sister-friends, Gaye Huff, I knew there had to be some substance to this man. So, we agreed to meet to discuss the details... and the rest is history!
Al eagerly committed to a role in 2W's "supporting cast" as a "Financial Literacy Mentor," only to find himself a few months later in a leading role as one of only two "2W Master Mentors," the highest role of leadership in the 2W program next to Director.
Al is a very humble and unassuming man who knew his way around the hearts and minds of our young people! He literally had an incredible gift for relating to and gaining the trust of the mentees & families...a gift he says he discovered through his work in 2W!
Our newest venture is YAM³ (October 2023), the component of 2W created to help YOUNG ADULT MEN navigate the journey of manhood. YAM³ is specifically Al's "Baby," though his diligence and dedication to 2W overall made his impact immeasurable!!❤️
Al's absence is deeply felt by 2W/YAM³ Mentees, Mentors, & Families alike... and we truly need your prayers!🙏🏽
That being said, I want the Myers Family and friends to know that we are eternally grateful for the life of our beloved Al Myers! His Love, Leadership and Spirit of Excellence will continue to guide us! To ensure Al's impact is felt and his life is honored by everyone connected to 2nd Wind Mentoring Project now and throughout our expansion in the years to come, we will commemorate his legacy of leadership by naming our scholarship program in his honor...
"The Cramon Alan Myers Scholastic Achievement Scholarship." Details will be shared with the family prior to the official launch, which is planned for June 2024.
