Albert Douglas Brooks Sr.'s Obituary
Brother Albert Douglas Brooks, Sr. (AD or Brother) for all those who knew him was born August 6, 1940, in Holly, DeSoto Parish, Louisiana to the union of Eddie Lee Brooks and Annie Mae Brooks, nee Robinson. He was the 2nd eldest of 11-children born to this union.
He accepted Christ at an early age and AD was educated in the DeSoto Parish School District of Ward-6 before he moved away to Dallas, Texas.
On December 9, 1961, he united in holy matrimony to former Gwendolyn Lafaye Jernigan, daughter of the late David & Pauline Jernigan. To this union seven children were born. One child preceded him in death at birth as an infant, two grandsons Xavier Brooks and Albert D. Brooks-III.
AD departed this life on April 2, 2025, at 8:15 a.m., while at home. He had been experiencing poor health for the past few years. His father Eddie Lee Brooks and mother Annie Mae Brooks nee Robinson preceded him in death along with four brothers Herbert, Versie, Johnny Lee and Thomas Lee: and two sisters Betty Mae Flowers and Rose). AD was employed at Redwood Distributors Incorporated (RDI) for several years, and later with the Kodak Company with Dallas, TX.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His Seven sons; Regniald R. Jernigan, Rodney R. Brooks Dallas, TX; Vincent T. (Sabina) Newman-Brooks of Seaside, CA; Albert D. Brooks Jr. of Beesville, TX; Kelvin D. Brooks of Cedar Hill, TX; Kevin D. (Billy) Brooks-DeVaull of Crandall, TX; Two daughters; Lolita L. (Lisa) London of The Colony, TX; Katina S. Brooks of Dallas, TX; 15-Grandchildren, 11-Great-Grandchildren, Four sisters, Betty Deloris, Eddie Mae, Hattie & Mary Anne all of Dallas, TX; One brother Wilbert of Mansfield, LA; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
