Bernice Martin

“Auntie Bernice” was a very thoughtful, compassionate, loving, affectionate, and humorous person. As the “BabySister” of her siblings, she made it her business to fix it when things got out of hand. She would tell me the truth in love with strong doses of humor to balance things out. She taught me how to crochet and made sure that I had a hobby and took good care of myself while also helping others. Auntie was very nice intentional about helping people, giving tips, advice, and directing me to get into the Word of Gods for myself and let God love on me. She would say, “ Speak the Word, child! Honey please!” She would always be caught dancing, singing, praying and having a good time. I will always cherish my Auntie Bernice’ s memory and celebrate her life. Brenda Hawkins

I am going to miss talking with you about our past and advice you shared. You were such an inspiration to me. Iam going to miss your laugh and how funny you were and the stories we shares and discussed. I know you have earned your wings and are with your husband and the Lord. Words can not express how much I am going to miss you. RIP my 2nd mother! Love you!!

My Auntie Bernice Martin-A legacy that have touch and impacted my life that had a positive impact on a spiritual level. I loved her dearly. Her faith in our Almighty God worked in her to give love, to give care, give words of wisdom, give words of knowledge, be love and show love. Her believing and faith impacted so many people lives on many different levels to will and do of God’s good pleasure, that will stand for a life time. Many years ago she encouraged me to read the book of Hebrews 11, the whole chapter. Call her back when I am done. Wow! Very powerful. I was reading the believers hall of fame. They believed and had faith in God. Then, I believed and have faith in God today/now. Auntie Bernice loved the Word of God! She taught me how to crochet. She was the first to teach me how to do the dance called the Cha-Cha at an early age. Her Legacy passed down from my generation to my next generation. We had a great bond together with so much love, humor and laughter! More importantly, she truly loved us all! My condolences goes out to the family. Beyond grateful for your grace, your wisdom, your sense of humor, & all of the genuine love shed upon us. I love you so much. My heart & prayers to family, friends & everyone who’s life she touched. My Auntie Bernice was a woman of wisdom and GREAT Faith. Whenever we talked she would encourage me to continue being the person I am and taking care of the people I love. She and my Father had an unbreakable bond. They would talk daily mostly in the morning to get their day started. There would be times she would call and he would be at a doctor’s appointment they couldn’t talk then but you better believe they talked afterwards. Auntie was AUNTIE Bernice to MANY. She will be MISSED by us ALL. Her family is her Legacy and it is a GREAT one, filled with much LOVE for each other. Even when she was not feeling well she made sure she checked on the family that was far away. Now we much carry on her Legacy of caring for one another.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, LOVE leaves a MEMORY no one can STEAL…
