Billy Travis Jones, Sr., was born at home in Jacksonville, Texas, on September 14, 1948, to Travis Arthur Jones and Charlie Mae Jones. Travis Arthur Jones preceded him in death. His Mother remarried and united with Alex Fuller, who provided love and support in raising Billy and his siblings at an early age. Alex Fuller preceded him in death.
Billy was the only son and the second oldest of three children. Preceded in death by his oldest Sister, Dianne Jones.
Billy was raised in a loving and caring Christian home and loved Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and rededicated his life to the Lord recently.
Billy graduated from McClymonds High School in Oakland, CA, in 1967, and after graduation, enlisted in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970, with an Honorable Discharge. Billy later enlisted with the United States Naw in 1975. While serving in the Navy, Billy visited several countries. Billy retired in 1998 with an Honorable Discharge as an Interior Communications Electrician, 2nd Class. During Billy's Military Service, he received a Deployment Ribbon with "3" Bronze Stars, Third Good Conduct Award, "2" Naw Battle "E" Ribbons, Humanitarian Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal with "1 " Bronze Star. After retiring from Military life, Billy pursued different employment trades after he returned to civilian life, including his own cleaning business, until he decided to enjoy retirement completely.
Billy's passion was music, and he was a Bass singer; he belonged to several Musical Groups. Billy sang Bass like nobody's business. Billy's outgoing personality seemed to suit him well. Billy never met a stranger; he would strike up a conversation with someone as if he had known them forever.
Billy loved to cook and would have "collard greens" at every meal if you would let him. Billy loved to shop at the Thrift Stores for any gadget that he thought he could fix. His collection of old clocks was his favorite hobby.
As a loving son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and great-uncle, Billy's love for family was unwavering.
Billy leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Yolanda S. Jones (Baby), and his Mother, Charlie Mae Fuller; his three sons, Anthony Jones, Billy Travis Jones, Jr., and Ryan Jones; and his Sister, Glenda Faye Smith, Brother-in-Law, Ronald Lee Smith, Sr.; Nephews, Ronald Lee Smith, Jr. and Alexander Carl Sanders; Niece, LaShun Sanders; Great-great Nephew, Kenneth D. Smith; Great-grand Niece, Genesis Smith; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Adrina and Marcus Wright; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a host of other relatives and friends.
