Branden Prince Barrett's Obituary
Branden Prince Barrett, 40, passed away on November 9, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on November 4, 1985, in Chicago, Illinois, to Julie Walker and the late George Barrett. Branden now rests peacefully with his father.
Branden grew up in Chicago, Illinois, Seattle, Washington, and Peoria, Illinois, alongside his sister, Sess. He didn’t take the traditional high school route, instead, he attended a military academy, showing early on his drive for structure, independence, and challenge. From a young age, he carried a deep love for his sister and always looked out for her.
In 2006, Branden joined the United States Army and proudly served as part of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon in recognition of his commitment and excellence. His time in the military gave him the structure, discipline, and brotherhood he always craved. He was honorably discharged in 2010 after serving with dedication and pride.
After his service, Branden went on to build a successful career as a sales manager. He was a natural leader who loved to teach, lead, and challenge others to think deeper. Whether in work, conversation, or faith, he inspired people to see things differently.
Branden shared an unbreakable bond with his wife, Alissa Barrett, and their daughter, Jazlynn King, who was the light he always found in this world when everything started to look dark. He loved teaching Jazlynn martial arts, a passion he mastered over the years while remaining undefeated for most of his fighting career. Watching her learn and grow gave him the greatest joy.
Outside of work and family, Branden was full of life and curiosity. He loved UFC fights and martial arts, working on his car, learning new things, and engaging in online debates that often turned into passionate discussions about faith, truth, and purpose. He was deeply spiritual and loved helping others find their way to God. He enjoyed Goobers, gum, and licorice candy, and had a soft spot for simple pleasures.
Branden adored his nieces and nephews Elijah Barrett, Jorji Barrett, Sage Cannon, and Millie Cannon and took pride in watching them grow. To them, he was more than just “Uncle Branden"; he was a protector, he was strength, he was a quiet coverer and comforter they knew was always there, even if he was not near.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alissa Barrett; his daughter, Jazlynn King; his mother, Julie Walker; his sister, Sess Barrett; and his siblings George King Barrett Jr., Sidney Barrett, Jewel Barrett, Gina Barrett, and Reri Barrett. He was preceded in death by his father, George Barrett.
A small memorial service will be held at Mansfield Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas on Friday, November 14th, 2025 5-7pm. 1556 Heritage Parkway, Mansfield, Texas. The family invites those who love Branden and the family to pay respects in this time before his body lays to rest.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain,
for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’
He said to me, ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.
To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.
Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.’
Revelation 21:4-7
