Crystal Marie Brooks' Obituary
Crystal Marie Brooks, born August 23, 1967, in Elmira, New York, transitioned peacefully at home in Mansfield, Texas, on January 31, 2026, after a quiet and tenacious battle with Lupus.
A graduate of Omaha North High School’s Class of 1985, Crystal began her professional journey at Mutual of Omaha, alongside her dad, Arnold. Her career later took her to Salt Lake City with Marriott Hotels and then to Virginia, where she worked for the Social Security Administration before joining the Department of Veterans Affairs. Her dedication to public service remained constant throughout her professional life. Crystal also served in the United States Naval Reserves, retiring in 2017. Her commitment to both civilian and military service was a defining aspect of her life. Crystal embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. As a member of Ladies & Luggage, she traveled extensively and explored new cultures. Her appreciation for wine led her to join the Copper Hawk Wine Club, and she expressed her creativity through mixology, interior design, and fashion.
She is lovingly remembered by her father, Arnold (Beverly); sons Billy Jr. and Jordan; grandsons, Malachi, Billy III, and Shamari; sisters Arnette and Dorothy; nieces Amber, Albani, and Amani; Uncles Pat (Pam), and Mark; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Crystal was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine; her grandparents, Dorothy (Samuel) and Eldon (Ruby); Her Uncles, Cecil, Eldon, and Charles; and Her Aunt, Mattie Lou.
Her adventurous spirit and radiant warmth will continue to inspire those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
(In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that a donation is made to the Lupus Foundation of America in Memory of Crystal Marie Brooks.)
