Edna Fay Stafford's Obituary
Edna Fay Stafford was born on March 1st, 1961, in Dallas, Texas to Mary Stafford and William Patterson. During her adolescence, Edna attended Joseph J. Rhoads and Pearl C. Anderson before spending her teenage years at Lincoln High School. She loved art and interior design. When she wasn’t drawing or designing, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her life was filled with animals and later in life while living in Atoka, Oklahoma, she owned horses, cattle, and other animals. Edna was a stern, charismatic, and headstrong woman, which were characteristics passed on by her mother. Known for easily making friends with anyone, she was a leader and caregiver in every way. She was Mom.
In 2016, she suffered a major stroke which affected her right side. With a strong Christian background and an unbreakable will, she didn’t let her shortcomings overpower her. Even after suffering cardiac arrest in October 2021 and being gone for a staggering twenty-four minutes, her faith and determination brought her back. She was eventually able to have the cheeseburger she wanted, eat dinner with her older sister for the Fourth of July, eat cake with her younger sister for her birthday, and defied all odds by standing on her own. In the end, she did everything she wanted and what she wanted most was to see her mother again.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Bertha Crosby-Jones and Booker T. Stafford; parents, Mary and William; aunts, Lillie Lampkin and Shirley Jones-Edwards; uncles, Sidney Stafford and Kenneth Jones; sister, Frances Stafford; brother, Charles Stafford; and nephews, Richard Stafford and David Stafford.
Edna is survived by her son, Eric Taylor (Imani); four brothers, Melvin Stafford, Kenneth Stafford (Billie), Ray Stafford (Denise), and Michael Antwine; four sisters, Betty Stafford, Diane Johnson, Doris Stafford, and Yolanda Chambers; granddaughter, Isabella Taylor; uncles, Arthur Jones (Mary) and Leslie Jones (Marsha); 30 nieces and nephews, a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. She is dearly missed.
