These are two of my favorite pictures of my dad. The first one was after my son was born. My dad stood there for hours holding my hand reassuring me my son would be ok since he was premature and ended up on a ventilator in neonatal intensive care. He watched Eric through the glass everyday but didn't go in he was afraid to touch him because he was so sick, but he was there watching over him.
The second picture is of my Dad at 18 years old high school graduation the thing I love most about this photo is you actually see the deep kindness in his big brown eyes!
My daddy was kind , loving , hilarious and the hardest working man I have ever met. He always kept his word and took care of his family.
A kinder soul I have never met.
I will miss his stories of his childhood growing up on a farm as sharecroppers son during World War Two and all the stories of his travels while working to support his family. He had the best since of humor. Material things never mattered to him. He liked the simple things.
Every year at Christmas I would say " hey dad what do you want for Christmas he would always say nothing I'm good. Then after I persisted he would say whatever you think anything is fine.
The hardest thing about watching my daddy leave this world was watching the light and kindness leave his beautiful brown eyes.
When I remember my dad I will always remember how safe and loved he made me feel. He was father my friend and my rock!
Rest In Peace Dad. I love you.
