Gary Eugene Stephens
With heavy hearts and cherished memories,
we announce the passing of
Gary Eugene Stephens.
He was born on November 27, 1949,
in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where he was raised.
Gary graduated from Wewoka High School in 1969,
and continued his education at
Connor State College in Warner, Oklahoma,
earning an Associate of Science degree in 1971.
In 1972, Gary enlisted in the Army National Guard,
Proudly serving as a citizen-soldier.
He received an honorable discharge as
a Staff Sergeant in 1989.
Gary began his career in the gas pipeline industry in 1974,
where he served for more than 41 years.
He retired from EOG Resources in Fort Worth
as a Pipeline Foreman in 2015.
Gary will always be remembered for his unwavering love,
kindness, and steadfast support for his family and friends.
He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, hard work,
and commitment that will continue to inspire
all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 41 years of marriage
Shirley Jean Stephens;
brother, Larry Lee Stephens (Mary);
son, Brian Lee Stephens (Linda);
step-son, Steven Bryan Borde;
step-daughter, Tracy Marie Link (Benjie);
and niece, Leah Dee Stephens.
He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren,
Dax Stephens, Pake Stephens, Haleigh Link,
Linzey Hitchcock, Payton Link, and Zachary Link;
eleven great-grandchildren, one great-nephew,
and a host of family and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents,
Vaughnie Dee Stephens and Avie Louise Stephens,
and his stepmother, Addie Mae Stephens.
His memory will forever remain
in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
