Gayle Ann Cody's Obituary
Gayle A. Cody was born on July 12, 1947 to the late Fremon Manley and the late Ernestine (White) Manley in East Chicago, Indiana. She accepted Christ at an early age. She later united with Van Buren Missionary Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana; where she served on the Senior Usher Board, Pastor’s Booster’s and as an Office Volunteer. Upon relocating to Arlington, Texas she united with Cornerstone Baptist Church: where she was an active Sunday School member and Church Office volunteer. Gayle attended Theodore Roosevelt High School, East Chicago, Indiana. A Tried and True Rough Rider Gayle served as Reunion Chairperson several years for the Class Of 1965. Gayle had a love and passion for the game of golf. She was a member of The Gleason Ladies Golf Club, Gary , IN. She enjoyed traveling with Donna’s Trips And Tours Group and taking family excursions. Gayle was employed by the United Steelworkers of America for 30 years prior to her retirement. She had the luxury to enjoy the retired life for more than 20 years. Gayle traveled extensively and loved to cook and entertain her friends and family. She united in Holy Matrimony for 28 years, with James Nathaniel Cody, who preceded her in death. Also preceded in death by her sister Sharon Averett and brothers Fremon Manley Jr.and Darryl Manley.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her loving and devoted daughter Dawn Renee Oliver and Sweet Intelligent Granddaughter whom she dearly loved Ralin Ann Oliver both of Arlington, Texas. sister Flozell Coleman of East Chicago, Indiana, A brother Richard (Renaye) Manley of Hobart, Indiana, Aunts Brenda Davis, of East Chicago, IN., Ann Hawkins, of Akron, OH, Uncle James Crawford, of Akron, OH, Nieces Nneka (Dimitrios) Simmons, Marissa (Randy) Daniels, Cayla Manley, Nephews Tyrone (Michael) Anthony, Garrick(Marisol) Manley, Calvin Steele, Cameron(Ashley) Manley, Clinton (Victoria) Coleman Jr. and endeared friends Janette(Larry) Cartwright, Gwendolyn Hurd, Marie English, Mary Williams, all of Gary Indiana; Peggy (James) Williams of Los Angeles,CA; Barbara Johnson, of Philadelphia, PA; Rosie( Jerry) Washington of, Tuskegee, Al., Edyth (Robert) Fields of Poinciana, Fl and Kathy(Ken) Neuman of Toronto, Canada.
