Deacon George "Stickhorse" Woodard's Obituary
In Freestone County, Texas, George Truman Woodard was born on November 9, 1945, the sixth child of E.D. Woodard and Erma Lee Stewart Woodard.
He was educated in both Freestone County, and Rockwall Independent School District. He met and married Sharron Harp of Dallas, Texas on January 14, 1982. To this union, two (2) beautiful daughters were born: Kahila KaRon and Krisharra Dashee.
George was certain of his homegoing, giving his life to Christ. Late in life, he joined Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Kemp, where he became a Deacon in 2007. He later moved his membership to New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Athens, serving faithfully. Upon relocating to Dallas, he and his family joined Full Gospel Holy Temple of Dallas. George had a big heart; he was a faithful Christian and truly loved the Lord.
George, early in life, was employed by Taylor Pontiac and later was employed 23 years at City of Dallas Water Department, retiring in 2005.
On Monday, July 8, 2019 at 73 years of age, God sent the death angel to receive George Truman Woodard unto His own. Time Served! well done my good and faithful servant. He is preceded in death by both parents, E.D. and Erma Lee Woodard, three (3) brothers: Edgar Dale, Jr., Bobby Dan, and Herbert Martin Woodard, some nieces and nephews.
George leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Sharron Woodard; daughters, Karon (Eric) Parker and Dashee Woodard, his grandchildren: Zaria and Kane Parker; five (5) brothers: Floyd (Noy) Woodard, David (Betty) Woodard, Jimmy (Michele) Woodard, Darrol (Mary) Woodard and Willie (Doris) Woodard; four (4) sisters: Louise Woodard Bryant; Erma (Eddie) Richardson; Gail Buchanan and Paula (Kenneth) Andrews; Mother-in-Law Willie Fay Harp, brother-in-law Darren Harp, sister-in-laws Diane Crockett and Renae (Karl) Andrews, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous friends. He truly cherished his special cousin/brother Clifton Lewis who stood by his side until the end.
