Gregory Eugene Edwards' Obituary
Gregory Eugene Edwards Sr. was born on September 25, 1965 to John L. Edwards and Eugenia Dibbles Edwards in Dallas, Texas. In November of 1983, he joined the United States Air Force. After serving his time honorably, he returned home in November of 1987. He began working for The City of Dallas in 1989 and was promoted to supervisor in 1998.
In his spare time, he frequented Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center (Red Bird) where he gained notoriety for his aggressive play on the basketball court and garnered a host of close friendships.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very young age and was a member of Greater South Central Baptist Church.
Gregory was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Eugenia and John L. Edwards.
He leaves many to celebrate his memories including his children Gregory E. Edwards Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Cassandra Suitor of Duncanville, Texas, Gregnnecia Darrett of Cedar Hill, Texas, Gary E. Calhoun Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Melanie Edwards-Lee (Brandon) of Cedar Hill, Texas, Ciara Sheron Edwards of Dallas, Texas, and Dana Edwards of Mesquite, Texas; grandchildren Gregory E. Edwards III, Kailynn Edwards, Jordan Edwards, CJ Edwards, Anaiyah Calhoun, Charlette Suitor, Braelynn Lee, Brooklyn Lee, Bryson Lee, And Tristyn Sillers; two sisters, Tonya E. Edwards and Stephanie Evette Edwards, a brother Glen R. Chatman, and a host of close friends and family.
