Guy Vincent Davis
November 11, 1956 – November 5, 2022
Guy Vincent Davis was born to the late CMSGT Benjamin F. Davis and Myrtle F. Davis in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 11, 1956, and was the eldest of 4 siblings. Being raised in a military family afforded him an opportunity to travel throughout the United States and abroad. He graduated from HH Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany, and from the University of Texas at Arlington, where he participated in many sports and excelled in football. During these times, he amassed many lifetime friends. At UTA, Guy met the love of his life and best friend, Mona Gonzales. Guy and Mona were married in holy matrimony in 1978, and to this union, two children were born, Alexia and Ian. Guy was also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Guy, being very analytical, excelled in a career of Logistics. He always had a moment to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how difficult or minuscule, and he made time to help those in need regardless of the need. Guy was a gentleman. Whether giving someone a place to stay, some well-worn advice, or even giving them a job, he was a man of integrity and bound by his word.
Guy and Mona joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. He continued his love for sports by coaching multiple youth teams. Guy mentored, guided, and touched the lives of many young people everywhere including how to negotiate with an opponent on and off the playing field. Later in life, his competitive nature led him to a sport in which he would continue to compete…..Golf! On any given day, you could find Guy on the links. Not only did he enjoy dining on fine cuisines, but he was also known for his famous grilling skills, which all enjoyed.
Guy’s presence will be missed by his wife, Mona; daughter, Alexia Payne(Chris) and grand, Cristoph; son, Ian (Ebony), and grands Jacob, Aaron, and Titan; Mother, Myrtle; Siblings: Michael (Karen), Linda Sullivan (William), Benjamin (Vicki), and Ronald (Chantal). Guy was also special to his mother, sister, and brother-in-love: Margaret, Phyllis, and Tab. Guy loved and adored all his godchildren. In addition, Guy relished the many special bonds he shared with a plethora of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and dearest co-workers.
Guy filled a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. He was kind, honest, straightforward, and hardworking. We will celebrate his life as we remember his gigantic smile, his loving heart, and his passion for mentoring children. Let us help each other as we grieve and celebrate his legacy.
We will miss him beyond measure!
