James "Pookie" Bush's Obituary
James was born in Los Angeles, CA on November 27, 1960 to two loving parents James Bernard Bush Sr. and Ruby Jane Bush. As a child, Pookie attended West Angeles Elementary, Henry Clay Jr High and Gardena High School. He loved playing sports and excelled in all however, as a teen his favorite sport was football.
James loved to travel and has lived in several states California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Texas. He began working for FedEx early in his career and loved the opportunity it afforded to relocate. He was a beloved employee, and very dedicated. There was a funny story in Hawaii when he lost a package in the Pacific Ocean and he jumped in to retrieve it, what dedication! That earned him an award and many people at FedEx still remember him for that.
Throughout his career James remained a devoted employee of FedEx a job he loved and found a second family of friends. James had the knack of drawing people to him with his beautiful smile and charismatic attitude. He was just an easy person to love. He retired June 1, 2023 after 30 plus years of service with the company.
James relocated from Las Vegas, NV to Grand Prairie, TX in late 2010, to be closer to his immediate family. Sundays were the family football day where the family would gather to watch football at his sister Karen & Ellis home. James loved the Dallas Cowboys so moving to the Dallas area was a dream come true. “How About Them Cowboys” he would always say. Win or lose he was a diehard fan. He would constantly have it out with his nephew Ryan Bush, who always riled him up if the Cowboys lost.
James more than anything loved his mother and was what we refer to as a “Momma’s Boy.” He and his sister Karen, brothers Eric, Daryn & Billy also shared a special bond. He will always be remembered as a special Son, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He maintained close friendships with Tiffanie Romey Bailey, Ronnie Turner, Richard Tyson, John Fiskio, and Ricko Gray, all of whom he would do anything for.
He was proceeded in death by his brothers Micheal and Daryn and dad James Sr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory (mother) Ruby Bush, (son) Jimmy Bush & wife Mere, (sister) Karen Valentine & husband Ellis, (brothers) Eric Bush & his beloved Kanani, Billy Bush & wife Toni, grandkids and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
