Jessie Burke's Obituary
They say that the DJ makes the music for celebrating every event. Our favorite DJ has left us all too soon.
Jessie Luke Burke, 42, of Fort Worth, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 13, 2023.
Jessie was born in Oceanside, California at Camp Pendleton Marine base on December 7, 1980, to Timothy Burke and JoAnn Crawford. They knew from a very early age that their middle son was incredibly smart, curious and energetic. He was prone to taking apart any electrical machine he could his hands on, and found such joy in understanding them and then rebuilding and improving them. When he was a kid, Radio Shack was his favorite place to visit and his bedroom floor was covered in wires, batteries and circuits. Jessie attended Greenville High School in Greenville, Texas, and was in the marching band. He went on to work in the stereo/home theatre AVI business and music turned out to be his greatest life passion. “DJ Jessie DeLay” was always up to spin some records. He took on the name “DeLay” because the delay effect was his favorite mixing element. He loved Jesus and gave his life to Christ as a child. He recently recommitted his heart to Jesus with a street pastor in Fort Worth, while walking to the car with his Dad.
Jessie is survived by his sweet wife, Amanda, and his daughter, Jessica. Amanda and Jessie met in Austin, Texas, in February 2014, and immediately connected over their shared love for music, food and cats. They knew from the start that they would be together for the rest of their lives. Amanda loved Jessie’s kind heart, his compassionate and caring nature, and he really won her over when he installed the first sound system she had in her car the year that they met. Jessie loved animals his whole life, and was particularly fond of their cats Spot, Taco, Ralphie and Louie.
Jessie leaves behind his Father, Tim and wife, Roseann. He leaves his Mother, JoAnn Crawford and husband, Calvis. He leaves brother, Jimmy and nephew, Andrew, along with sister, Melissa Zubik and husband, Jason, and nieces, Landry and Scarlett. Additionally, he is survived by many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins. He reunites in Heaven with his adoring and precious Grandmother, Betty Jean Anderson Burke and the grandfather he never got to meet on this earth, Lloyd Rex Burke.
Jessie is deeply loved and will be dearly missed by us all.
