John William Rose's Obituary
John William Rose was born December 27, 1932 to Leroy and Anna Rose (Darg) in Salina Kansas and
died August 28, 2022 at Cedar Hill Texas. His final resting place is Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
There will be a memorial held later. He lived his formative years on the farms north of Salina, attending
the one room country schools in the area. He graduated from Washington High School as a member of
the last class of that institution and participated in athletics, particularly football, which was the source
of many stories.
John married Donna Fern Mills the girl of his dreams December 14, 1952. We were hoping that we could
celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary and his 90th birthday this December; but that was not to be. He
joined the Air Force soon after marriage and served overseas in French Morocco and Saudi Arabia. After
the Air Force he worked for Elmore Dairy, spent a long stint at Gooch Feed Mill, and enlisted in the
Kansas National Guard. John retired as Sargent First Class. One of his duties was to serve as recruiter for
the Central Kansas area. He loved the National Guard and always enjoyed the summer deployments.
John and Donna moved to Moline Kansas where he served on the city commission, made dear friends
and enjoyed fishing at the great lakes in the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Anna Rose, and an older brother Lyle. He is survived
by his wife of nearly 70 years Donna, Son Randy (Myrna), Daughters: Rhonda Coulter (Tony), Gina Moon
(Steve), Michelle Williams (Mike), Grandchildren: Lyle Coulter, Benjamin Rose, Season Jacobs, Shawna
Athy, Brennan Moon, Miranda Taylor, Shantel Williams. John also had 10 great grandchildren: Anthony
and Anderson Coulter, Dayson and Haylo Jacobs, Chryston and Cannen Athy, Tru Williams, Calleb, Carly
and Cambry Taylor, a nephew David Rose and a niece Suzi Larson.
