Keith Collins' Obituary
Keith Von Edward Collins was born the beloved son of Edith Fay Collins on May 2, 1968 in Fort Worth, TX. He was the first grandchild of Fred Edward and Annie B. Collins, who both loved him dearly.
Keith attended schools in San Francisco, California and Green B. Trimble Tech High school in Fort Worth, Texas. He later gained a GED. Keith also obtained an associate’s degree in sociology. He was a proud 2016 graduate of The Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB), Taste Project, and the Culinary School of Fort Worth. He later worked at various restaurants in Fort Worth, Texas. Keith enjoyed sports, singing, and cooking. He would often create tasty meals and coffee beverages for his aunts and family. He loved waking early and preparing hot breakfasts for family and any visitors at the house. Keith was particularly fond of making tiramisu. He often joked about not being allowed to serve his tiramisu at his culinary school graduation because he used too much rum!
Keith loved the Lord. At an early age he joined Pleasant Mount Gilead Baptist Church where he attended with his grandmother, the late Annie B. Collins, and his cousins Shedrie, Karlotta and Akida. He attended Prayer of Faith Temple and often sang in the choir under the tutelage of Minister Vernessia Curtis. Keith had a melodious voice, like his grandmother and many members of his family, and he shared his gift of song at religious institutions throughout the state. Keith joined the Shining Light Missionary Baptist Church and was a member there until his death.
Keith was an intelligent, outgoing, charming, generous and loving person. He was a loving brother, nephew, cousin and friend to many. Keith gave unselfishly and had a genuine concern for the care of others. He had a funny and charming personality that endeared him to many.
Left to cherish his memory are: his sister Kodi Miller (Melvin), aunts- Florida Ward, Vernessia Curtis, Hon. Ann Y. Collins, Georgia Collins, and great aunts Marva J. Bailey and Alice Faye Littlejohn, uncle Lonnie Ray Collins, and great uncle John R. Littlejohn. He also leaves a host of loving cousins - Shedrie Collins, Carlton Collins (Maria Maggie), Dr. Nnyekaa T. Collins(Dennis Newball), Lea R. Kelly, Rickie Kelly, Jr., Karlotta Maxwell, Akida Maxwell (Onethia), Christopher Collins, Kimberly Collins Godfrey, Brandy King, Jonathan Childress, Lonnie Lampkin, Marcus Collins, Roziland Blue, Sonjii Ward Jones (Tim), Anyatta Nicole Ward (Kevin Buffington), Roscoe R. Ward, special loving cousins Marsherrie Madkins, Darius Collins, D’Myrian Robinson, and LaNavion Tolbert and a host of other cousins and special friends and soul mate.
As his Heavenly Father receives Keith with open arms in heaven he also greets with loving abandon: his mother, Edith Fay Collins; Grandparents Fred Edward and Annie B. Collins; aunt, Margaret Maxwell; uncles Paul Earl Collins, and Charles Collins, and the rest of the Collins and Littlejohn clan.
As we celebrate Keith’s life, let us remember: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NIV)
“13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
