Larry D. Martin's Obituary
Larry Darnell Martin was called home on the evening of November 19, 2020 surrounded peacefully by his wife, family, and friends.
Larry was born on August 4, 1951 in New Orleans, LA to parents Ernest and Clifton Martin. He was the fifth child out of nine children. He was baptized at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA.
He attended George Washington Carver High School in New Orleans, LA prior to joining the military. Larry served in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Abilene, TX at Dyess Air Force Base. He later would serve in the National Guard. After serving in the military, Larry attended Richland Community College for 2 years. Larry also worked 30 plus years, at the United States Postal Service, where he later retired in 2006.
Larry is survived by his wife Gloria of 44 years; his children Stephen Martin (Charity) of McKinney, TX, Christie Payne (Morlon) of Mesquite, TX, and Tiffany Martin of Grand Prairie, TX; grandchildren, Jordan, Donovan, Kayla, Steevi, Mondarius, and Grayson.
Two living sisters Gwendolyn Morris of New Orleans, LA and Three living brothers Dennis Martin (Carol) of Abilene, TX and Michael Martin of Grand Prairie, TX. 9 sister-in-laws, 7 brother-in-laws, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death by his parents Ernest and Clifton Martin. 1 son (Clifton Martin). 2 brothers (Milton and Claude Martin) and 1 sister (Tina Thomas).
