I met Lawrence in 1977 when I went to work at Stephen F.Austin HS as Director of Student Activities. He was involved in several activities, a star football player, one of my office workers and quickly became one of my favorite people. He was so genuinely kind, caring and just an overall awesome person. We became very close and continued our friendship for 45 years. I knew his parents and most of his siblings and loved his closeness to and love for them. Even though I never met Beverly or his girls and granddaughters, I could hear his love and pride in his voice as he bragged on all of them.

I was devastated when he told me about his cancer. I prayed for a better outcome. I am truly heartbroken that he has lost his battle.

I will always keep him in my heart and cherish our relationship. I send my most sincere condolences to all of his family. I pray that our Heavenly Father is wrapping His arms around all of you and giving you a peace that only He can give. I know you have many treasured memories and I hope they will give you comfort.

Lawrence, Beverly and their daughters, we all grew up together in Mesquite. Tx. as young married families. They were supportive of me and my family especially my daughter and Shalandria playing ball in middle school. All through high school and in college he actively followed my daughter's development and career. Lawrence was always a man who was there with a positive word and a listening ear. Simply put, Lawrence was a great man and he will be missed but never forgotten. My life is better for having met you.

My fondest memory of Lawrence Texada is that he was a Gentle Giant who unconditionally and unselfishly gave of himself and shared his family with anyone who needed love, kindness, friend or family. Although I did not have the fortune to have had Lawrence in my life, I know of his deep faith, that he was blessed with a wonderful family that he cherished and loved so much, and that he enhanced the lives of everyone that he met. Beverly, Haley and family, the love and memories that you have been so blessed with are forever and will comfort you. Denise and I express our heartfelt condolences.

Knowing you was more than pleasure. I remember my first interview with you and you told me your vision of being able to help others that looked like me. Made it a priority to recruit from HBCUs and made me feel like your son, when I shared I was have a daughter you gave me advice I never knew I would need and continuing check on me to a point you called to tell me you look at me as a son. Lawrence, one of my dearest, closest, lovable cousins. I will remember all of the wonderful times we had together growing up. We had several things in common. We were in the same class(78), we lived in the same neighborhood, sometimes in the same house ( the Texada's),we both loved sports, we both started our careers in Dallas, our firstborn child was born in the same year, but most importantly we were cousins. I'm missing you already, but I know you are where I want to be someday because you believe in the Lord. Until we meet again, I love you cous. I'll see you later. Grace
