Liam Steve's Obituary
William Richard Patrick Steve – ‘Liam’ – 9, of Mansfield, Texas, unexpectedly went home to be with Jesus on February 10, 2023 after a viral infection went to his brain. He was born April 14, 2013 in Los Angeles, California.
Liam was a fourth-grade student at Martha Reid Leadership Academy, where he loved to learn, share his knowledge, and play freeze tag. His classmates and teachers all knew Liam for his kind heart, humor, quirkiness, confidence, and cheerful spirit. He recently completed a college and career project that solidified his dream of someday attending MIT to be a robotic engineer – a goal we all knew he could achieve.
Liam loved hockey – both watching the Minnesota Wild (a connection to his parents’ home state) and playing as a defenseman on the Dallas Stars Metro Hockey League-Mansfield 10U team. Liam became part of the Destiny Studios family while perfecting his drum skills. He recently performed “Never Gonna Give You Up,” and ended by telling the audience at the microphone, “You’ve been RickRolled!”
Liam was a constant blessing and encouragement to his parents, often telling them, “You can do this!” and “I love you, too!” – a message we will all carry in our hearts in the difficult days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
Liam leaves behind his loving parents, Kyle and Rebecca, along with a host of family members who love him, including grandparents Papa Scott and Mayme Paula Steve, Grandpa “Willie” William Roos, aunts, uncles, and cousins – Corey and Theresa Steve, Quinn and Alana; Jessie and Kevin Nicholson, Connor, Emily, and Kate; Deborah and Dan Killion, Wyatt and Isaac; Joseph and April Roos; John and Danielle Roos, Genevieve and Roman; Tim and Stephanie Roos and Arlo – as well as extended family and many classmates, teammates, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Patricia Roos who no doubt smiled, handed him a left-handed hockey stick, and joined Jesus in welcoming Liam to heaven.
The family will accept visitors at Mansfield Funeral Home, 1556 Heritage Pkwy, Mansfield, TX 76063 on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 4 to 7 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Life Church-Mansfield, 3601 Turner Warnell Road, Arlington, TX 76001, followed by a graveside ceremony at Emerald Hills Memorial Park - Kennedale.
We would be so appreciative if those joining us would wear purple, green, silver, and/or gold. Hockey players from the area should wear their jersey and bring their hockey stick to honor Liam with a final Stick Salute at the end of the service. Classmates of Liam are asked to make “Kindness” posters and hold them at the exit of the church at the end of the ceremony. Friends who wish to participate in the service are invited to sing in a community choir; please join in a choir rehearsal set for 7:30 pm on Friday, February 17, at Life Church-Mansfield.
“You can do this.”
“I love you, too.”
