Lola Beth Bullard's Obituary
Our beloved mom, Lola Beth, passed on to her eternal life on July 26, 2022. Lola Beth was
born January 14, 1936 in Spur, Texas to Gordon and Lola Mae Parks who were farming in Dickens
County. She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Don Edward Bullard, her parents, her
sisters, Yuba Sparks, and Celia Mae Parks and son, David Lynn. She is survived by her three sons,
Gordon Lee (Luisa), Rex Glen (Carla), and Kim Edwils (Anna), her nine grandchildren, Jolene,
Michelle, Robert, Lorie, Angela, Jared, Megan, Molly, and Sarah, 18 great-grandchildren, and many
nieces and nephews.
Lola Beth graduated from Morenci High School in 1954 and attended Grand Canyon College.
She met the love of her life in 1955 when she attended a square dance that was set up with the help
of friends and family to be Don’s partner. Don and Lola Beth were married on March 31, 1956 at the
First Baptist Church in Dell City, Texas. Lola Beth was a loving wife and mother, and as a military wife
she traveled and lived in many states and in the country of Germany. After Don’s retirement, she and
her family moved to her parent’s farm in 1971. There they raised their four boys and one
granddaughter and eventually took over the farm and its operations.
After the passing of her husband, she became the sole proprietor for the next 11 years. In
2001, she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be a part of Rex and Carla’s family. She was very
involved in the everyday lives including cooking, playing games, and entertaining the grandkids. Lola
Beth was a two-time breast cancer survivor and endured and recovered from a brain stem tumor
removal. She survived all of this through the love and support of family and friends. In 2018, Lola
Beth moved in with Lee and Luisa in Mansfield, Texas. There she enjoyed more family and went on
camping trips, cruises, and visited extended family from Paris to Hitchcock, Texas.
Lola Beth enjoyed cooking and she had the ability to create delicious meals on short notice or
short rations. We remember her potato salad, brisket, and stacked red enchiladas among many other
dishes. She had a life long love of reading especially to her sons and grandkids. She read them
adventurous stories like Blackbeard, Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer, and the love of God through bible
stories. Lola Beth’s greatest gift was her love of playing the piano which began from a young age and
continued throughout her life. She played at every church she attended, weddings, school functions,
and funerals. She taught many students including family. Her only disappointment was that none of
her sons wanted to play. There wasn’t a song she couldn’t play and memories were made gathered
around the piano at family reunions and holidays.
She was a Christian woman who served God by teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible
School, chaperoning various youth groups and teaching music to those who wanted to learn. She
taught her children to pray and know who God was, is and is to come and His plan for everyone. Lola
Beth was a member of Eastern Star, serving as a pianist at several local chapters (Sierra Blanca, Ft.
Hancock, and Deport/Paris), and Worthy Matron of her local chapter (Isleta). She also served as the
Grand Organist for the Grand Worthy Matron.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Dell City, Texas on August 20,
2022 at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow. Family and friends are invited to lunch served at
the Spanish Angel Cafe.
