Lyndsey Vicknair's Obituary
Lyndsey Captain Vicknair, aged 33, of Manor, Texas, passed away on June 15, 2024. Lyndsey was born on December 31, 1990, to Bobby and Lena Captain.
Lyndsey was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend. She is survived by her husband of seven years, Kevin Vicknair, and their young children: Kenzi (7), Kairo (4), and Kya (1). She is also survived by her dear sister, Laura-Marie Captain, grandmother Maya Marie Captain and numerous cousins and close friends.
Lyndsey graduated from Mansfield High School in 2008 and earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Prairie View A&M University in 2010. She furthered her education by earning a J.D. from South Texas College of Law (2013), an LL.M. in Entertainment & Media Law from Southwestern Law School (2015), and an MLS in Oil, Gas & Energy from the University of Oklahoma (2020).
Lyndsey was an active member of several associations including the Austin Young Lawyers Association, Austin Bar Association, and various sections of the State Bar of Texas such as the Construction Law, Oil, Gas, and Energy Resources Law, Entertainment and Sports Law, and African American Lawyers sections.
Lyndsey enjoyed traveling, live music, and attending live sporting events with her husband, Kevin. Together with their three young children, they gave back to the community by organizing fundraisers, food drives, and participating in other community outreach events. Following her son’s diagnosis in 2020, Lyndsey became a passionate advocate for Sickle Cell Awareness.
A celebration of Lyndsey’s life will be held at 3 PM on June 22, 2024, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1188 West Broad St, Mansfield, TX 76063. Pastor Michael Evans Sr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM on June 21, 2024, at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to support the children via GoFundMe. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to their family, friends, and loved ones.
Lyndsey will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to others will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community she touched.
