Mae Queen Smith's Obituary
Mae Queen was born on May 1, 1928, to the parents of Grover & Hattie Flournoy in Quitman, Texas. She was the fifth child of ten. She attended W.B. Clark High School in Quitman ISD. She relocated to Dallas, Texas and joined the Galilee Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Superintendent R.L. Hunter where she faithfully served as Mistress of Ceremony and Radio Announcer for many years.
Mother to five children, Mae Queen worked hard throughout her life to provide for her family. Whether it was working at the S & S Tea Room or a saleswoman at Levines, she did so with pride and diligence. Her strength and faith helped her family carry on through even the most troubling times. Mae Queen taught her family to stick together and to be there for one another, a tradition that has been passed down throughout the years.
She leaves to cherish her memory four children: Morris (Carolyn) Hervey, Gregory (Kerrie) Roberts, Diana (Ron) Shannon and Mallane Scott; a special niece, Donna Adams; ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces & nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Waiting to show her around her heavenly home: her husband: Willie Smith; three children: Charles Hervey, Linda Hervey, Marcus Roberts & step-son, Charles Hamilton; her parents, Grover & Hattie Flournoy and nine siblings: Annie (Dimple), Agnes (Doll), Adel, Crawford, Gloria, Tommie Faye, Baby Dot (Dottie), Charles Ray & James L.
