Maria Elena Cervantes' Obituary
María Elena Cervantes, beloved mother, and grandmother was called to join our Heavenly Father at the age of 87. Born in Nadadores in the state of Coahuila, Mexico María was the youngest of three children. María endured many hardships in childhood: her father passed away when she was very young, she developed paralysis due to viral meningitis for which she had to re-learn basic motor skills and was sent to live with her father’s family as they had the resources to better provide for her. María would later be reunited with her mother for whom she provided care and love throughout her life.
As a young woman, María studied accounting and worked for El Banco de México where she was known for her detailed acumen for all things financial as well as her strong character. María met her husband, José López Cervantes, after being introduced to him by his mother. Upon reading letters José wrote to his mother, María knew any man who wrote such caring and loving letters to his mother would be an excellent husband and father. José exceeded these expectations- María felt complete and content due to the joy José brought to her life. Together they worked and traveled and raised four children who were the center of their lives.
Throughout María’s life, her priority was always her children. Her children were blessed until the last day of her life to have known so much love and kindness in this world. She is survived by her daughters Peggy, Jacqueline, and Diana who will carry on María’s legacy by ensuring the faith, love, and kindness she unconditionally gave the world is felt by all the lives they touch. María joins her husband José, son Hector, and other loved ones. She missed them dearly, we now miss her dearly, but will see her again in Paradise.
