Mary Jean Grayned's Obituary
Mary Grayned, 75, passed away on 24, December 2024 at Methodist Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, TX. She was born on November 29, 1949, in Vance, Mississippi to MC and Thelma (Hite) Simmons.
Mary grew up in Rockford Illinois. She attended West High School in Rockford, Illinois.
After high school She:
• Worked several jobs including running her own daycare and retiring from Fairview Nursing Home in Rockford Illinois
• Mary was involved in Volunteer Organizations: CASA, and Concord Community Center.
• Mary married Willie Grayned in 1966 in Rockford Illinois. They were married for 23 years. Mary was a member of [Anderson Chapel AME church in Killeen TX.. She enjoyed [cooking, sewing, traveling. She also received awards from CASA for outstanding advocacy for children.
Mary was preceded in death by her (Parents) Thelma and MC Simmons, (Siblings) Lavern Stafford, James Simmons, Delores Simmons, Linda Simmons, and Oscar (Nunu) Simmons.
Mary is survived by her spouse Willie Grayned of Ft Myers, Florida; her son Lamont Grayned of St Louis MO, great nephew Lyndon Lambert of Claremore Oklahoma. Daughters Shalunda (Robert) Brown of Harker Heights TX, Sherry Grayned of Arlington TX, great nieces Rhonda Charles of Austin Texas and Lynda (Donavon) Russell of North Richland Hills her brother Dan Simmons of Watauga TX. Sisters Esther Stafford of Rockford Illinois, Daffodil (Gene)Peyton of Ft Worth TX, Marie Simmons of Rockford Illinois. her grandchildren James Sockwell, Kayla Brown, great nephew Jordan Eldridge of Arlington TX and Jadon Grayned of St Louis MO; she has four great-grandchildren Jha’marrion Sockwell, James Sockwell II, Jerinae Sockwell and Jada Sockwell]; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church M.B.C 7550 S Hampton RD, Dallas TX 75232 at 11:00 am, Jan 11, 2025. A viewing will be held at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church M.B.C 7550 S Hampton RD, Dallas TX 75232 at 10:00 am, Jan 11, 2025.
Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park Cemetery 8301 Mansfield Hwy, Arlington, TX 76002.
