Michael Ralph Duncan's Obituary
“What A Trip”
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Mike “Papa” Duncan. He fought a long and courageous battle with chronic illness, which took him on Saturday, February 15th, near Lillian, Texas where he lived for over 20 years.
Mike was born on March 18, 1949 to Brewster and Betty Duncan in Culver City, California. When he was young, he could be found exploring the streets of his Hacienda Heights neighborhood with his unending curiosity and brown sack lunch. At 18, he enlisted for the service of the United States Army and fought bravely in the Vietnam War until 1969.
Mike always had fun in life. His journey included a successful career as a business owner and he made sure to serve people well. In his past time, he enjoyed watching sports, and especially loved watching the Lakers, Rams, and Dodgers win. Mike could often be found at McDonald’s drinking coffee and reading. His favorite thing to do though was spending time with his favorite people. Papa cherished moments with the loves of his life: his wife, his daughters, and his grandchildren.
Mike is preceded in death by his beloved parents. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, his brother, Mark, his daughters and sons in law, Michelle and Jeremy Anderson, Lisa and Michael Goss, Kim and Matt Martin, and his grandchildren Tyler, Kayla, Cami, Nathan and Jade, Kailey, Noelle, and Matthew.
Services held on Thursday, February 20th from 11:30-12:30pm at Mansfield Funeral Home and burial to follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:30pm. Reception to follow at McDonalds; free coffee and Wi-Fi for all senior citizens.
