Michael Brian Peterson, age 57, passed away on August 11, 2021 at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center with his family by his side. Michael was born in White Sands Missile Range, NM, to Clyde William (Bill) Peterson and Mary Ellis Read Obituary
Master Sergeant Peterson, as I knew him, was a good leader and a great friend. We served together on the Joint Service Honor Guard from 2006 until he retired and stayed in touch for years after. I lost touch with him when I moved away from Texas at the beginning of 2021 and only learned today that he passed away. My heart breaks for his family. He was a great man and his loss is one that I feel more than most.
Mike Peterson was an awesome guy. I was so impressed with his workmanship and professionalism, while I was assigned as the Fuels Superintendent at Holloman AFB, NM.
(1987 - 1989).
I knew then, that if he chose to make the Air Force a career; he would become a future leader in the Fuels/POL Logistics career field. He excelled to the challenge. He was a true "Air Force Blue Warrior."
It was a thrill for me to meet his wife Christina and daughter in 2017 at a POLKAT Reunion, held in New Orleans and again in Memphis in 2019. My wife, Lazenda and I send our heart filled condolences to Christina and the extended Peterson family. Mike and his "Texas sized smile" will forever be missed in the Air Force Fuels/POL community.

I spent a lot of time with Mike over the years on his visits to Houston/Galveston, as he often times shared my office. What I admired most about Mike was the work ethic we shared, “firm but fair”. He not only represented the safety arm of United Road but he was also an educator, often showing the new drivers techniques and procedures to ensure compliance and safety, and surprisingly enlightening our seasoned drivers as well.
In between his load line audits, conference calls and reports we would talk, and the conversations that stand out the most were his love for his family, his secrets for the best cooked brisket, his loyalty to United Road, his trusty Chevy pickup truck with 400,000+ miles, and the desire to buy land. We exchanged ideas on planting income producing crops such as avocados, bamboo, saffron and limes. Mike did indeed buy some land. The World lost a good man and he will be deeply missed.

Love and peace to all of the Peterson family. Our family met Mike, Christina, and Emily at church a short time ago. Their presence was God sent and very welcoming. Our prayer is that the family will hold on to the faith and know that God continues to be with all of them.

My sincere condolences go to Christina and her family. Me and Mike travelled a lot together, we ate far too much together, but most of all we laughed all of the time together. I will always hang on to those moments that made us laugh, for ever. I love you big Mike
