Dear Laurens, Nelson and the entire Grant family- I wanted express my sincere condolences for the loss of your father and mother. I hadn't had a chance to respond to you about Nate when I learned about Joyce. When my family joined Flossmoor Community Church, we always looked forward to talking with Nate and Joyce. They were a wealth of information and lot of fun too. I loved how Nate brought me knowledge of filmmaking. I never got a chance for him to show me what it was like to look through a camera like shown in the wonderful picture shown here. In such a difficult time, I pray that wonderful memories will sustain you now and in the days to come.

I am so grateful for the example that Mr. Grant was to me personally as a father, a husband, a professional and a leader. The time I was able to spend with him, especially during my high school years, was so impactful. His knowledge of history, arts/culture, his communication style and sense of humor among other things were really influential. And he was an influence in a natural way by just being himself. I will never forget hanging out on the lower level of his house with Nelson going through albums and talking music, history, etc. And being so impressed with his creativity and technical expertise. Mr. Grant beyond his professional attributes was a great man that I will also cherish learning from. My prayers and support are with the Grant Family.
