Taught me how to be a man of God.
Greetings,I'm Minister Edythe Thomas of The Heart of Ruth Ministries.💜❤️ To Minister Sherry, The Smith Family, The Light of The World Church Family , as well as all other friends and loved ones of Pastor Johnny Smith: I can't express how sorry I am for our loss of Pastor Johnny. I regret that I am unable to be there with you all in person. Please know that my heart is deeply saddened as well. I have been, yet am and will continue to pray that The GOD of ALL COMFORT will INDEED comfort & consoole each and every grieving heart as only HE can. May God's Grace, mercy and peace be multiplied to each of you . Praying that you will embrace GOD'S ALL SUFFICIENT GRACE and be strengthened as you dwell under the shadow of the ALMIGHTY! I LOVE YOU ALL DEARLY!💞🙏🏾💜🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾

We were blessed to have lived next door to Johnny and Sherry--such kind, hardworking, "salt of the earth" neighbors--for 28 years.
No doubt Johnny shook his head at our many landscaping trials and errors, one in particular redoing stones put in backwards at our feeble attempt at a retaining wall, and building it back far better than we had envisioned. Why we spent 28 years hauling around water hoses and sprinklers to water our yards, all the while living next to a landscaper is one of life's unexplained mysteries!
Johnny claimed he wasn't a "cat person", but he loved the person who loved animals and who graciously took over the care of a special feral cat when we moved, along with the many others that subsequently found their way to the Smith residence.
Johnny's laugh was infectious, and the silence overwhelming. While we are saddened at the loss of a wonderful neighbor, our hearts go out to Sherry, Tasha and Sherina, and family as they mourn the loss of their husband, dad, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. May God grant you peace. And one day we'll rejoice in that laugh once again.

Pastor Johnny you will be miss very much u will forever and always be in our heart

I can’t believe I’m reading this. 🥹 He and Ms. Sherry were such a blessing in my life—he was always full of happiness and joy. I always enjoyed being around Pastor Johnny because he shared the same mindset as my own father: a good man and a hard worker. He had been on my mind for quite some time, and maybe that was his way of saying goodbye. He will be deeply missed. 🕊️My most heartfelt condolences to the family.💐
Mr. Smith was the best father-in-law that I could have ever asked for. He was caring, kind and helped to guide me to be the man that I am today. He challenged me to grow spiritually, poured into me spiritually and genuinely cared about me and our family. Mr. Smith, I promise to hold everything that you have taught me throughout the years close to my heart. You told me frequently how proud of me you were. I promise to love your daughter Sherina with every fiber in me and will take care of the children. I am so sad that you have left us, but joyful knowing that you are experiencing eternity with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ my Dad. I love you forever. and ever and ever.
