Patricia Arlene Edwards' Obituary
Patricia Arlene Edwards was born November 13, 1935 to Eugene Thomas and Willametta Stewart Thomas in Brooklyn, New York. Patricia was the first born and had a brother Eugene. She graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in 1953. During her young teenaged years, she was part of a Social Club called the Mermaids. They mostly enjoyed pool and beach visits.
At the age of 19, she married her childhood sweetheart, Clifford William Edwards. Shortly thereafter she moved to Beale Airforce Base in California, where her husband was stationed. Three years later, the pair started a family. Their union yielded 3 children Kevin, Keely and William. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom during the early years of her children’s lives.
While in Brooklyn, her work life included varying roles. She worked as an elementary school Crossing Guard. She also enjoyed her time as a Meter Maid in New York City. She would always give people the benefit of the doubt, warning violators before she gave them a ticket.
While living in Upstate New York she was a store Manager at Kings Dept. Store in Mahopac. She also worked at Caldor’s Dept. Store. She worked there until she decided to go back to school to become a nurse. She achieved her goal in 1983. It was in January of that year that she earned a degree from the University of the State of New York and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She spent her nursing years in Peekskill Hospital, Peekskill, New York.
Her hobbies consisted of cake decorating, sewing, water color painting and taking long walks. She also enjoyed drawing, acting, and writing. She was well loved and respected in her community. Never hesitating to give her love and heart to everyone.
Patricia was always active in the lives of her children, especially when it came to her children’s education. She was always involved in the PTA. In 1978, while living in Mahopac New York, Pat was active in the Austin Road Parent Organization and organized a local dramatic group made up of teachers and parents. She directed productions of “Follies”, “Laugh-in” and “The Other Generation”. She also performed in numerous Productions.
Her Parents Eugene Thomas and Willametta Stewart Thomas, husband Clifford Edwards, brother Eugene Thomas, son William Edwards and daughter Keely Edwards preceded her in death.
She leaves to treasure her memory her son Kevin Edwards, Daughter-In-Law Debra Edwards. Her grandchildren, Katherine Edwards and Vincent Edwards. Her great grandchildren, Raegan Edwards, Kennedy Edwards, and Kaden Potter. Her cousin Carolyn ”Sissy” Long. Her nephew Anthony Van Dorn and “niece” Cheryl Thomas. Her God-daughters Robin Rogers and Wanda Rogers and a host of relatives and family friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation and sincere thanks the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them in their hour of sorrow. Your kindness shall never be forgotten.
