Richard William Patterson Sr's Obituary
Richard Wm ‘Dick’ Patterson, age 104, of North Richland Hills, TX, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024. He was born on January 28, 1920.
Known for his love of cars, Cocker Spaniels, commemorative stamps, and the Texas Rangers, Dick led a full and vibrant life. He served in the Army as a T-4 Combat Medic during WWII in Northern Europe. A dedicated pharmacist, Dick worked in Houston, Pecos, Midland, and San Angelo, TX, as well as Louisville, KY. He graduated from Zanesville HS and studied Pharmacy at UT Austin.
Dick will be deeply missed by his surviving sons, Richard W. Patterson, Jr (spouse Susan Marguerite Cavanna) and Stephen R. Patterson (spouse Janice Marie Gray), along with his seven grandchildren, Richard Gabriel Patterson, Natalie Suzanne Hodges (spouse Dave Hodges) Laura Christine Patterson, Stephen Gray Patterson (spouse Abigail Marie Nitschke), Culver Neel Patterson, Lily Blythe Patterson and Hannah Faith Embry (spouse Caleb Dillon Embry), and seven great-grandchildren, Nadia Marie Nobles, Madeleine Joelle Hodges, Kate Elizabeth Hodges, Margaret Jane Patterson, Stephen Paul Patterson, Therese Caroline Patterson and Ember June Embry.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Grace Patterson, his spouse Dorothy May Van Winkle Patterson, and their daughter Margaret Louise. In his free time, Dick enjoyed stamp collecting, arrowhead hunting, model ship building, and model railroading. Contributions in his memory can be made to the DFW Cocker Spaniel Rescue.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation on June 20, from 9-10 AM at Mansfield Funeral Home & Cremations, located at 1556 Heritage Parkway, Mansfield, TX. The burial service will follow at 11:30 AM at DFW National Cemetery.
