Ronnie Earle Townsend's Obituary
Ronnie Earle Townsend, 76, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away on December 6th after a long battle of health issues.
Ronnie was born on March 1, 1947 to the parents of Kathryn Jones (Townsend-Bowser) and James Townsend on the west side of Fort Worth, Texas. He completed his primary and secondary education in the Fort Worth School Districts while developing a love for track and field. He also loved collecting antiques, watching action-suspense movies, BBQing, and spending quality time with his girls.
He fathered three children at an early age: Yolanda Steger, Alex Smith (Big Boy), and Thomas Townsend. After a while, he gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Eastland Church of Christ. Often called “teacher” or “eagle”, Ronnie was a role model for all and always believed in helping others as much as he could.
Ronnie later married Robin, no children were born to this union. He later met and married the love of his life (in 1981), Carolyn J. Woods (42 ½ years), whom he affectionally called “Carol.” Together, they shared the love of identical twin daughters, Christina Carol “Tina” and Celeste De’Ann “DeeDee”. He often referred to his “girls” as the “apples of his eyes”. He was so proud of his girls; nothing was too good or too expensive for them. He enjoyed showering his love by cooking and feeding the masses.
Ronnie worked as a Machinist for 10 years at Harris Graphics in Fort Worth, Texas. He learned to become a “jack of all trades” but found a love to become a plumber during his later years. He also enjoyed home improvements projects, and welding.
Ronnie is survived by his wife: Carolyn; his daughters: Christina, Celeste Lewis (Shannon), Yolanda Steager (Dwayne); his son: Alex Smith; sisters: Vergena Carol Townsend, Sandra Gayle Townsend; brother: Charles Townsend; granddaughter: LaKeisha Golden; great-grandchildren: (twins) MyKailah, Myckel, Kennedi, Marlie Ann, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Kathryn (JD) and James, sisters: Erma Perkins, Ella McNair and Vernita Hubbard; brothers: James and Kenneth; son: Thomas; grandson: Jamal Golden and grand dog: Pepper Ann.
