Rosye "Pat" Lewis' Obituary
Rosye “Pat” Lewis a resident of Desoto, Texas transitioned to her eternal reward on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the age of 88. She passed away peacefully in her home on March 30, 2020, after living a full life. Pat was born on March 29, 1932 in Marshall, Texas to the parents of Bennie Roberts, Sr. and Addie Mae Collier Roberts. She was raised in Marshall Tx, where she received her education in the Marshall Independent School District.
Pat later made her way to Sacramento, CA and back to the Dallas area in her early twenties, where she settled for the duration of her life. She never lost her affinity for her hometown, Marshall, Texas, where two of her sisters remained throughout their lives. She regularly made trips home to maintain their connection. She also enjoyed networking and socializing with local dignitaries through her professional connections.
She served as a dedicated employee at the Dallas Urban League for most of her adult life. She had an affinity for numbers that was commendable and rewarding. She retired from the Dallas Urban League after nearly 20 years of service.
Pat loved to cook and had recipes that made her children and grandchildren happy for many years, especially on their favorite holidays. She also enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles and reading; she passed this love on to many of her children and grandchildren. Her home is full of books and mementos that were near and dear to her heart.
Pat leaves to cherish her memory: her children: Marilynne Rollins (child - Dr. Stacia’ Alexander); Pamela Wiley (children - Ingrid Wiley, Kim Conner, Kiedra Clark and Brandi Garcia); Gregory Hicks Sr. (children - Gregory Hicks Jr., Monica Hicks, Terrence Hicks and Tori Harmon); Grandchildren – (Shelia Palmer, Melissa Carson, Chris Carson, DeAndre Carson and Demetra Cain) and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bennie Roberts, Sr. and Addie Mae Collier Roberts; sisters Charlie Mae Gross, Ora Lee Roberts, Virgie “Booksie” Smith and brothers Oklin “Mann” Bloodworth and Lewis Clark Roberts; oldest daughter, Ernestine Hicks, grandson David Foster Sr. and great grandson David Foster Jr.
