Sam was a COMPLETE FOOL funny as can be and so beloved by his many many fans. YES, life does happen and this is one bad aspect of it. Just remember though our lives will come to an end nothing ever disappears. Sam will forever live on in our thoughts, hearts and minds
I remember listening to him on the Skip Murphy Morning show back in the day
We have known Sam since grade school
Talked to him at least once a month
His effervescent tone was reassuring of hope and good times. This has been shocking news to say the least. We attanged for Sam to speak to at Chip's memorial setvice.He was delighted which made all of us happy. God bless and bringc omfort to family who must have a grieving petiod.

Ina and Mark and sending my deepest condolences to you and the family. Sam was truly one of a kind. The first time I met him he was guest speaker at the University of Texas at Arlington. I expressed to him I wanted to work in radio he told me to reach out to him at a later date. I kept leaving him messages. He finally called me back and in his joking voice told me man you are persistent let me see if I can connect you with Joycelyn Johnson between the both of us we should be able to find you something...lol. That was the beginning of my span at K104/KKDA/KRNB.
Another memory of Sam....he always knew how to place a smile on everyone's face. He would treat the women of Service Broadcasting to a luncheon or something to say thank you for all the work we did. He didn't have to do it, but he always wanted to do it.
There was nothing like a Sam and Ina Putney Holiday Party!!

My day wasn't going good. Ms. Kwana told me that I had a phone call & the Caller ID said SLAMMYWORKS. I did NOT feel like talking but I answered. In his BIG OLE RADIO VOICE, he said Hey Ms. Nicole, this is Sam Putney. I said from the radio? He said "YES, I'm retired & I want to work with kids & what better place to work with kids than in Paradise. By this time.... I'm trippin like....wth?!?! Honestly, I thought it was a joke but he was SERIOUS.
The next day in walks Mr. Sam ready to work.
Mr. Sam was more than a mentor for my daycare babies, he was my FRIEND!!!
He taught those kids so much & he told me some of the best stories!!! MR.SAM LIVED LIVED, OK!!!

He loved me, my kids, Mrs. Shera, our staff, and daycare babies so dearly and WE LOVED HIM BACK. NEVER A DULL MOMENT WITH MR. SAM AROUND!!
