I was saddened to hear of the passing of Scott.
May your sorrow be lessened by the knowledge that the pilot community at American shares in your sadness.
We wish to express our deepest sympathy.
Sincerely,
Lisa and AA Captain Tom Read
Always there with a smile and a chocolate. He will be missed.
Always remember the first thing we would say to each other..."John Scott", he'd reply "Cary Knight"! Was a pleasure not only serving ecclesiastically with this wonderful man, but being his friend. Moving away takes a toll on opportunities to frequently gather, but just having the sweet memories of the Texas times with Scott is heart-warming.
God Bless John Scott and God Bless his sweet wife and family!
I am sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. I flew a lot of great trips as Scott’s FO. Loved hearing his stories about Vietnam and his interactions with B52s during his operational missions. Scott was the last airline pilot I ever knew who carried his bags. “No wimp wheels for me!’ he would say as he trudged through Miami customs the second time in a day. One trip he did relent during our mile and a half round trip hike to customs in MIA. I was so astounded by his change of heart I snapped the only picture I have of Scott, an American Airlines captain, pulling his FO’s bag through the concourse to customs—with his laid on top. I smile every time I think of that day with Scott. Rest in piece my friend; I will always consider you one of the best!
