Sheila Marie Stueve White's Obituary
Sheila Marie Stueve White, at 75 years old, passed from this life on October 13, 2022, in Mansfield, TX in the presence of those she loved and those who loved her.
Sheila was born on June 9, 1947 in Flint, Michigan to Paul Henry Stueve and Mary Coaina Vowells Stueve, and was the oldest of 4 other siblings. As a military child, she lived throughout this country while her father was a career Air Force officer, living in Alaska and Texas before the family finally settled in Salem, Oregon. Upon completion of high school, she entered a short stint in religious studies at a convent before attending Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Eugene, Oregon. After completing her nursing license, she enlisted into the United States Army in October of 1968. While stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma as an Army nurse, she met and married Charles Carter, with whom she had three children: Julie, Dan, and Jeff. Sheila was honorably discharged in November 1970 as a 2LT.
After leaving the Army, Sheila moved to Columbus, Mississippi where she began her civilian nursing career at Columbus Air Force Base Hospital. She moved to Starkville, Mississippi in 1972 where she embarked upon a 21-year career as a nurse at the Mississippi State University Student Health Center. During her time there, she was a triage nurse, assisted in the health and treatment of student athletes, and concluded her career at MSU as the first university health educator. In 1993, she moved to Brandon, Mississippi and was Director of Nursing at Jacquith Nursing Home on the campus of the Mississippi State Hospital in Pearl, Mississippi. After retiring from the State of Mississippi, Sheila worked at the Baptist Medical Center, as well as St. Dominic's, in Jackson, Mississippi as a Nursing Supervisor.
In 2003, Sheila moved to Round Rock, TX and began working as a nurse at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin, TX. In 2009, she married Robert Allan White, Sr. After retiring from nursing in 2013, Sheila and Robert enjoyed spending time with friends and family and traveling. Some of their favorite trips included San Antonio, TX and attending Robert’s military/Vietnam War reunions throughout the country. During Sheila’s military and civilian nursing career, she received numerous merits, awards, and honorable recognitions.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Robert Allan White, Sr., her daughter and son-in-law Julie and Gary Newcomb (Pflugerville, TX), son and daughter-in-law Dan and Paige Carter (Brandon, MS), son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Jamie Carter (Phoenix, AZ), stepson and daughter-in-law Robert Jr. and Erin White (Mansfield, TX). Other survivors include her grandchildren Joseph and Brianna Newcomb, Jennifer Newcomb, Ashton and Bryce Blankenship, Bryson and Reagan Carter, Payton Carter, Rob III and Savannah White along with great grandchildren Emery and Charlie Newcomb, and Emma Grace White. She is survived by her brother, Jim Stueve and sisters and brother-in-law Margie Stueve, Shirley Faulkner, Linda and Michael Ault, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
