Sister Dorothy Jean Bradley's Obituary
DOROTHY JEAN MCCRAY BRADLEY was born on March 11, 1948 to the parentage of Alvin and Della McCray Sr.
Dorothy Jean was born in Wilmot, Arkansas and raised in Louisiana. She attended Union High School in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana and graduated in 1967. She met the love of her life at Union High School but didn’t realize he would later become her husband – they did not get along in school. She also attended and graduated from Texas Business College in 1968.
Dorothy Jean married her beloved, Jimmie D. Bradley on October 23, 1968. To this union they were blessed with four children.
Dorothy Jean began working for Texas Department of Human Services in 1978 for 20 years. She then worked at Dallas County as a County Clerk until she retired in 2002.
Dorothy Jean surrendered her will to the Lord on April 01, 1973. She heard the word of God being preached by the Late Great Apostle Lobias Murray and knew she needed to be changed. She joined Full Gospel Holy Temple under the leadership of the late Apostle and Dr. Shirley Murray. She continued to serve the house of God as an usher under the current leadership of Apostle Herman and First Lady Daniele Murray until the Lord called her home.
Anyone who knew her, knew she absolutely loved her church and her leaders. She was faithful to the house of God until her health began to fail. You would find her on her usher post even when she wasn’t feeling well.
Dorothy Jean loved her family and would do almost anything for them. She loved to cook on holidays or just any day in general and have her children and grandchildren come over just to eat. Her grandchildren will remember her by how she would cook them pancakes – they never knew why her pancakes tasted different – but now they understand the special ingredient was LOVE.
Dorothy Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Della McCray, her granddaughter LaToya Dixon, her brother Melvin McCray Sr, her husband Jimmie D Bradley, and her son-in-law Marvin Burns Sr.
Dorothy Jean leaves to cherish her loving and feisty persona, her four children, Jeanette Burns, Michael Bradley, Evette Hunter (Keith) and Jeremy Bradley (Amy). Her twelve living grandchildren – LaTara, Kiana, Kiara, Cierra, Kailyn, Nathaniel, Keith Jr, Michael Camille, Jeremiah, Adam, Allana and Allan. Her two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Alivia. Her five siblings – Alvin McCray Sr (Shirley), Joyce McCray Jones, Patsy Prosper, Sharon McCray and Linda Washington (Lionel) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.
