Sister Margaret Jean Pruitt's Obituary
Margaret Jean Pruitt, daughter of Haywood and Emma Aikins, was born on August 23, 1943, in the small town of Mt. Pleasant, TX.
Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She was known for her outstanding cooking and baking skills, as well as her quick wit and comedic nature.
Margaret received her formal education at the Booker T. Washington School in Mt. Pleasant, TX. She later attended Beauty School and dedicated nearly 15 years of her life as a hair dresser. Upon concluding her career in the beauty industry, Margaret spent a great portion of her time doing her most important work: serving God, tending to her garden, cooking in her kitchen, maintaining her home and caring for her family. She wouldn’t have had it any other way.
At the age of 25, on May 8, 1969, Margaret married her late husband, Robert Earl Pruitt. She remained faithful, serving in the capacity of a godly wife, unto death.
Following in the footsteps of her older sister, the late Ouida Woods, Margaret gave her life to Christ and joined the Full Gospel Ministry under the leadership of the late Apostle Lobias Murray and Dr. Shirley Murray in the early 1970s. She raised her children in the fear and admonition of the Lord and lived a life that was pleasing to God, in the beauty of holiness. Her prayers and dedication to God, to this day, leave a rippling effect to members of the Aikins and Autry families.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents (Haywood and Emma Aikins), her husband (Robert Pruitt), son (Elder Adrian Autry) and siblings (John Aikins, Vera White, Haywood Aikins, Rudolph Aikins, Dorothy Chambers, Ouida Woods, and George Aikins). She leaves to cherish her life her children (Reginald Autry and Yutease Warren), siblings (Patsy Allen and Peggy Donerlson), daughter-in-law (LaKeedra Autry), grandchildren (Ashley Macc, Benjamin Warren, Jr., Brenton Aikins, Adrian “AJ” Autry and BreAnna Washington), five great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
While her family grieves the loss of such a strong pillar, we celebrate the life she lived. She loved her family and friends deeply. She now rests in the arms of Jesus. We will forever cherish the fond and absolutely hilarious memories of Margaret Jean Pruitt.
