Dr. Tania Alyssa White Jackson's Obituary
Tania Alyssa White Jackson was born on March 24, 1963, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to very loving and devoted parents, the late Lieutenant Colonel Walter Nathaniel White, Sr., and Pearl Cooper White. She was the first of three children. Tania embraced her Christian faith early on, experiencing a profound spiritual transformation at White Temple Church of God in Christ, where her Christian values were formulated.
Tania had a passion for education, which propelled her to excel academically, becoming Salutatorian at Huntington High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During this time, Tania, along with 26 other young ladies, was initiated into the Beta Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., during the spring semester of 1983.
Post undergraduate, Tania experienced a brief career with IBM while in pursuit of her aspirations to achieve her true passion in the medical field. She graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in 1991, followed by her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tulane University of Louisiana. Tania moved to Richardson, Texas, where she practiced at Health Central Women’s Care prior to opening her private practice in Plano, Texas, in 2001.
As a dedicated physician, Tania was a steadfast advocate for her patients. Throughout her career, she provided exceptional medical care in addition to offering genuine compassion for her patients. Dr. Jackson touched many families in the DFW Metroplex by assisting with prenatal care, deliveries, and addressing all aspects of female health concerns, making a lasting and profound impact on women at every phase of life.
Tania was a vital member of her church and lived her life by promoting Godly Christian values and morals instilled early in her life. Tania was beloved for her vibrant, infectious personality, dedication to her patients, and professionalism, which fostered genuine lifelong connections.
Tania’s passion for service extended well beyond the medical profession. She served and played key roles in the Tau Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and her beloved alma mater, Southern University. She was a staunch believer who financially supported key programs in each organization, creating memorable experiences for young people in the local and global community.
While Tania was always the ultimate professional and had a strong desire to succeed in her career, she was also deeply committed to providing a loving, God-serving life for her family. Tania met the love of her life, Gary Wayne Jackson, and the two were married on September 23, 2000. Their 24-year marriage was marked by love and support, creating a nurturing home for their three children, Thomas, Grant, and Alyssa. Tania and Gary instilled strong values of compassion, hard work, and integrity in their children.
Tania took pride in celebrating her children’s achievements and encouraging them to pursue their passions, fostering a sense of confidence, humility, love, and always giving praise and thanks to God. This is evident by Thomas acquiring his Master of Arts in Jazz Reeds from California Institute of the Arts, Grant attending Boston University, and Alyssa attending Brown University.
During her illness, Tania never wavered in her faith. She had numerous prayer warriors praying for her around the country. Even during her illness, Tania openly encouraged and uplifted others as they faced life’s challenges. This included caring for her beloved mother, “Mama Pearl,” making sure all of her needs were met. She has etched a strong memory in the hearts and minds of the Prayer Warriors with her vibrant, joyful, infectious spirit, absolutely beautiful smile, and zest for life.
Tania was preceded in death by her father, Lieutenant Colonel Walter Nathaniel White, Sr., and her sister, Kristi C. White.
Those left to cherish her memories are her mother, Pearl C. White; her loving and devoted husband, Gary Wayne Jackson; her three beloved children, Thomas H. Mims III, Grant W. Jackson, and Alyssa S. Jackson; her brother, Walter N. White, Jr. (Shronda) of Rockwall, Texas. Tania was a cherished niece by her aunts, Lora Dell Timberlake (Marlin, deceased), Zelma Thomas (John); uncle Willie J. White; and Godparents Ronald and Louise Thornton. She will forever be missed by her loving Jackson family in-laws, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and her Monday night Prayer Warriors.
A special acknowledgement to Valencia DeCuir Anderson for her unwavering support as the organizer of the Prayer Warriors.
