Theresa Felix's Obituary
Theresa Pascal Felix affectionately known as “Ama” was born on January 23, 1923 on the Island of Dominica. She was married to Louis Felix. Theresa had 12 children; she is survived by 9 of them and 1 sister. Before moving to St. Thomas, Theresa was a very hard working stay at home mom, caring for all her children while her husband was away working. 1970 She migrated to St. Thomas with her 7 youngest children to join her husband. She worked at various establishments including the Dept. of Education from which she retired in the late eighties. In 1997, Theresa and Louis moved back to Dominica and bought a home. In 1999 after 48 years of marriage her husband passed away.
Theresa was a devout Catholic and loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. After her husband’s passing Theresa spend most of her time in church and volunteered to pray with the sick at the local hospital. Theresa was a regular at Morning mass, prayer meeting, holy hour and any other spiritual gathering at her church. She had her own special prayer that she recited as many times throughout the day, "Oh my Lord and my God. Father you know me better than I know myself. Just give me the strength and courage to carry on. Amen, amen I say to you Lord, the will is yours."
Theresa was love and love was Theresa, she taught her children an important lesson on how to love and to give. She loved and nurtured not only her children but all the children in her community. She was a strict disciplinarian. If you got a whopping for something that you didn't do, she would tell you "hold on to that just in case you did something in the past and I didn't whip you for it". At the age of 85, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer. As the disease progressed she couldn't remember many of the people she once knew but she never forgot her children and she never forgot how to pray. She would often start out with the Lord’s Prayer, then would cut in somewhere in the middle with Psalms 23 like a Spanish station interruption, then finish up with the Lord’s Prayer……….Lol
Our hearts are comforted knowing that she left this earth in perfect peace surrounded by family and friends.
